报告摘要:极化码(Polar Code)作为目前唯一可理论证明达到香农极限,且具有可实用的线性复杂度编译码能力的信道编码技术。利用极化码(Polar Code)技术可以同时满足国际电信联盟定义的高速率、低时延和大连接等各类物联网的应用需求。演讲人将在本报告中详细介绍团队提出的校验级联极化码的编译码方案,该方案除了参与编码的信息比特之外,还引入了一定数量的校验比特,将这些校验比特分散在极化码的信息比特序列之中,并在译码过程中充分利用校验比特提供的额外信息以有效提升极化码在短码长下的纠错性能。该方案是在极化码短码长下利用未被充分极化的信道资源的普适性方法,理论和实验均论证了该方案的有效性,在2017年12月发布的3GPP TS 38.212 V1.2.1(2017-12)被正式采纳为5G新空中接口标准的组成部分。演讲人还介绍了校验级联极化码未来的应用前景。

Title:Parity-Check-Concatenated Polar Code: Past and Present

Abstract:As the only channel coding technology that currently has been theoretically proved with the capability to reach the Shannon limit, Polar Code also achieves practical linear complexity in both encoding and decoding. Polar Code technology can be leveraged to meet the requirements of various IoT user cases such as high throughput, low latency and massive connections as defined by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU). This talk will introduce new coding and decoding schemes for Parity-Check-Concatenated Polar Codes as proposed by Space-Ground Integrated Information Networks Research Center in Huazhong University of Science and Technology, China. In addition to normal information bits involved in the encoding, the proposed encoding scheme also includes a certain number of check bits. These check bits are dispersed among the information bit sequence of the polarization code. Then, the decoder can make full use of the additional information provided by these check bits in the decoding process to effectively improve error correction performance of the polarization code under the short code length. The proposed scheme can be effectively applied to a wide range of un-polarized channel conditions with the certain short code length, which has been well demonstrated by theoretical and experimental results. The proposed scheme was adopted by 3GPP technical specification TS 38.212 V1.2.1 (released in December 2017), as the part of 5G New Radio standard. This talk will also cover future application scenarios ofParity-Check-Concatenated Polar Codes.


江涛,IEEE Fellow,华中科技大学教授、博士生导师,是国家第六代移动通信技术研发总体专家组成员、教育部“长江学者”特聘教授、国家杰出青年科学基金获得者、享受国务院政府特殊津贴,入选中组部第二批“万人计划”科技创新领军人才、爱思唯尔中国高被引学者榜单和湖北省高层次人才工程第一层次等。长期从事于群体智能、多载波宽带通信、天地一体化信息网络等研究。现已发表学术论文400余篇,其中IEEE期刊论文250余篇;论文他引逾万次;出版专著4部、编著2部、参编4部;申请国家发明专利50余项,其中授权30余项,PCT专利10余项。所提出的校验级联极化码(PCC Polar Code)被正式采纳为5G标准。受邀担任China Communications副主编和IEEE Network、IEEE Transactions on Signal Processing,IEEE Transactions on Vehicular Technology,IEEE Communications Surveys and Tutorials,IEEE Internet of Thing等期刊编委。以第一完成人身份先后获国家技术发明二等奖、湖北省自然科学奖一等奖、中国电子学会自然科学奖一等奖等。

Tao Jiang is currently a chair professor of Huazhong University of Science and Technology, P. R. China. He is a member of national expert committee of the Sixth Generation (6G) Mobile Communication Technology R&D. He has a long track-record research in the fields of swarm intelligence, multi-carrier broadband communication, and space-air-ground integrated networks. He also authorized 4 books, edited 2 books and participated in co-editing 4 books. He has published more than 400 peer-reviewed academic papers, including more than 250 IEEE top-tier journal articles that have been accumulatively cited more than 10,000 times by other researchers. He was listed by Elsevier as one of China’s most cited and influential scholars. He also holds more than 50 national patent applications, of which more than 30 including 10 PCT patents have been granted. His invention on Parity-Check-Concatenated Polar Code (PCC Polar Code) has been officially adopted by 3GPP 5G standard. He has been frequently invited to serve various editorship roles for many prestigious journals/magazines including China Communications (Associate EiC), IEEE Internet of Things Journal (Area Editor), IEEE Transactions on Signal Processing (Associate Editor), IEEE Transactions on Vehicular Technology (Associate Editor), IEEE Communications Surveys and Tutorials (Associate Editor), and IEEE Network Magazine (Technical Editor). As a principal investigator and a primary contributor, he has been broadly recognized by the community and has received many awards including Changjiang (Yangtze River) Scholar of the Ministry of Education, Distinguished Young Scholar of National Science Fund, the second prize of National Technical Invention Award, the first prize of Hubei Natural Science Award, the first prize of Natural Science Award of Chinese Institute of Electronics, and a winner of State-Council Allowance. He is a fellow of the IEEE for his contribution to coding, modulation, and cognitive radio systems design. He was selected into the National “Ten Thousand Talents Program” as a scientific and technical innovation leader and was listed as a tier-one expert of Hubei High-Level Talent Programme.
